Facilities
Meals
CRH prides itself on
providing appetising and nutritious meals. All meals are prepared on the
premises using the freshest ingredients. The hospital is responsible for
ensuring all food is prepared according to (HACCP) Standards. Therefore, we request pre-prepared food
is not brought in for your consumption. Special diets for clinical, personal or religious reasons may be
arranged in consultation with the dietitian. On your initial arrival you will
be provided with an available meal from the daily menu and receive a menu to
complete for the following day.
Hairdresser
A hairdresser attends the
hospital and appointments can be made through the ward or hospital volunteers.
A price guide may also be obtained from the volunteers if required.
Coffee/Tea Making Facilities
There is a small kitchenette
located near the junction of the East and North Wards, just inside East Ward
for you and your visitors to utilise. Please ask a staff member if you are unsure of its location.
Taxi
Ward/reception staff will
arrange for taxi transport for both inpatient and day patients of the
hospital. If your visitors require
a taxi there is a free taxi phone located in the corridor near the vending
machines adjacent to the central courtyard.

- Health insurance membership card
- Medicare card
- Ambulance and/or Pension Card if applicable
- Pension or Veterans Affairs card
- Pharmaceutical entitlement benefit card
- Medications you may be taking in original containers
- Personal or disability aids
- Day Clothes
- Relevant X-rays or scans
- Night wear, dressing gown, slippers, toiletries and reading material
- Bathers (if hydrotherapy recommended)
Mail
Mail is picked up from the
hospital post office box each morning and distributed accordingly. As the post office now charges for
re-direction any mail which arrives after your discharge will be returned to
sender where possible.
Clothes
You will need night attire,
toiletries, casual comfortable daywear (dressing in normal clothing is part of
rehabilitation) and your usual footwear. You may also require a pair of bathers for hydrotherapy.
Valuable Items
Please do not bring anything
of value to the hospital such as large amounts of money, jewellery or credit
cards.
If you do have items of value
with you, they may be stored in the valuables drawer of the room locker; items
should be small amounts of money (less than $20) non-cash associated cards
etc. Please remember to always
keep this drawer locked if utilised. Return of key to drawer on discharge is
appreciated. There is also a safe
located at reception which is to be used for anything you deem as valuable
(cash greater than $20, credit cards, jewellery that you are not wearing,
etc). Please discuss with nursing
staff if required. Please secure and label all belongings, as the hospital does
not accept responsibility for their loss or damage.
Laundry
You are requested to make
your own arrangements for the washing of your personal clothing. If you are unable to make your own
arrangements a private laundry service may be arranged through the hospital at
your cost.
Smoking
In the interests of promoting
good health and fire safety, Calvary Rehabilitation Hospital is a non-smoking
hospital. No smoking is permitted
in the hospital grounds including outside the main entrance. It would be appreciated if you convey
this information to your visitors. There is a designated area with restricted
hours in the garden area adjacent North Ward for patients/visitors. Smoking
outside this area/these times is not permitted.
Electrical Items
Should you wish to bring
electrical items such as a hair dryer or electric shaver, please notify the
nursing staff and they will arrange a safety check by the maintenance
department. Please note that the
hospital has a hair dryer available for patient use.
Televisions
North and East Ward have
different television systems.
North Ward televisions are
controlled through the control/speaker located at the bedside.
East Ward televisions are controlled
through the remote control located at the bedside. If you require volume to be at a high level you will be
required to utilise an earpiece in order not to disturb your neighbouring
patients. Please ask a member of
the East Ward Nursing staff for an earpiece if required.
Radios
There are no in built radios
within the rooms; portable radios are available upon request from the
hospitality services manager.
Air Conditioning
North and East ward
air-conditioning units operate slightly differently. If the set temperature is
not comfortable for you, please request nursing staff to alter to a more
suitable level.
